What a stunning resort! What was supposed to be somewhat of a dreary stopover turned into an absolutely amazing experience. Gold Beach was originally just a logistical stop for us. We would try to catch some sleep and leave for Portland in the morning. We arrived at the lodge and started a conversation with the friendly innkeeper who recommended some good dinner places. So we thought “all right, maybe this place has some potential”. We proceeded to our room. The room we stayed in was cozy and warm, with comfortable beds. The bathroom was big enough and the shower got warm water quickly. But that’s not all. We had our very own porch overlooking the beautiful Rogue River. And at night there was an amazing stargazing opportunity from our very own porch! The sky was filled with stars, that we could gaze at for hours on end. In the morning, we went to the main building for some of the complimentary breakfast. The innkeeper’s waffles were extremely delicious, and soft. Plus the main building had a large grassy area with a breakfast table overlooking one of the most gorgeous parts of the rogues river. Once we saw the view, we didn’t want to leave! Although other lodges in the area also overlook the river, I’m not sure any have as great of a view as the one we saw in Rogue River Lodge.
